Keeping your YOUTH

Some people say " you are what you eat "should always be in your mind when taking a bit of food or drinking your favorite drink. Eating the good foods in combination with skin care, and working out will keep you looking and feeling young. Most people have the perception that they can eat whatever they want in their early to late 20’s and then start eating healthy in their 30’s, and expect to keep their youth through their 40’s. I’m sorry to say that is a LIE. In your 20’s your skin and body is at its peak, this is the age when you can demand and push your body the most. Once you reach your upper 30’s and 40’s it’s harder to retain muscle and the estrogen that promotes moisture, firmness and elasticity in your skin. So start in you 20’s eating the proper foods, get a fitness routine, and skin care regime. Below is a listed of foods to help keep your youth.

  1. Red Grapes is rich in resveratrol, which is a super antioxidant with anti-aging and health promoting properties. Red grapes are organic and contains higher level of resveratrol than others grapes.

  2. Avocado is a great source of vitamin E that helps prevent damage to collagen. Avocados have a high leave of beta-carotene and fats that protects and nourish the skin from aging and helps maintain healthy eyesight and heart as your body begins to age.

  3. Brazil Nuts are a tree nut that contain selenium. Selenium not only helps produces skin elasticity but it also is a potent antioxidant that reduces early aging and skin cancer. Be careful to not over eating Brazil nuts because to many can be toxic to your body. Only a 2-3 per serving.

  4. Salmon have high leaves of Omega-3 which are essential fatty acids. Omega- 3 produces natural moisture for your skin by retaining oil-barrels and promotes flexibility and skin cell repair. The lack of these “healthy fats” you diet your skin can become dry, and become more prone to wrinkles.

  5. Watermelon is rich with lycopene, vitamin A and C. Lycopene is antioxidants that contain strong anti-ageing properties and some studies show that it helps protect you against cancer and heart disease. Both vitamin and A and C are essentials antioxidants that keeps the skin youthful and health.

  6. Dark green vegetables…spinach, broccoli, kale, greens, etc. The darker the better because minerals, tons of vitamins, and antioxidants that help repair and build our cells.

  7. WATER…PLAIN WATER. Your body is made up of 70% and needs to be replenished throughout the day. Water is the fountain of youth. Dehydration can make your skin look dry and your body feeling cranky. You can also infuse your water with different fruits and herbs like mint to give it flavor and added benefits.

If you are passed your 20’s, it never too late for a lifestyle change. Your body will still thank you for this lifestyle change.
